Part 3 of rose-colored glasses.
When the cops beat an innocent man for standing up for his rights at a checkpoint, a Baptist pastor no less, you know you’re in a police state… unless you’re wearing some seriously amped up rose-colored glasses. Checkpoints, people. Checkpoints inside the U.S. where everyone is stopped without any sort of suspicion, much less reasonable suspicion, and asked for their papers. Is this not sounding disturbingly familiar?!

Just as you’ve “gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette,” you have to crack a few skulls to make an obedient public.
This is truly getting ridiculous. Hey Dale, did you ever see that video where a mother in NH refused to answer a cops questions in NH. She was arrested for refusing to identify herself. This did happen quite a few years ago. And she was found innocent.
Michael, the courts never find anyone “innocent.” You’re either “guilty” or “not guilty” but a court isn’t going to go out of it’s way to clear your name. In fact, your arrest record is rather permanent and accessible by just about any law enforcement officer anywhere.
If anyone thinks Dale has gone overboard on his rose colored glasses meme, just check out the sheeple commenting on the Youtube video. There are dozens of statements like, “if he didn’t have anything to hide he should have just consented” as if he deserved to be beaten for simply not acquiescing to the illegal search and detainment.
I heard about this yesterday… yeesh.
I’m absolutely not arguing that the supreme court decision that allows these checkpoints within 100 miles of the border is good… it’s complete and total bullsh*t.
I’m also not arguing that the use of excessive force was justified, it wasn’t.
I am, however, pretty damn ok with this particular bigot getting beat up. It’s just a shame his wife wasn’t there as well, because she’s even worse.

That dude is going to need a tripod for those glasses pretty soon.
PerfessorEvil, so you are ok with the government thugs beating up this particular person just because he may have views that you don’t agree with? How tyrannical of you.
Mini-moose, did you miss the part that said, “I’m also not arguing that the use of excessive force was justified, it wasn’t.”?
I’m not ok with what they did, but I have absolutely no sympathy for him. If that makes me a lesser person, I can live with that.
“Wake up America, why is this happening?!”
Because people like you don’t care about these actions until they directly impact you or your loved ones. I imagine this wasn’t a championed cause of yours until you were treated this way. Having learned a little more about the subject of the video, and his lovely spouse, I have to wonder – had this happened to someone with a rainbow flag, wiccan pentacle, or darwin fish affixed to the rear of their car, would the outrage have been replaced by laughter? I don’t condone what happened to this man in the least – but maybe another lesson he could learn is karma. Or, in words better understood by his profession – Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap – Perhaps if clergy like you didn’t pick and choose the parts of the book you take your faith from that you heed, your harvest would have been less violent.
Here is hoping for a speedy recovery, and a lesson learned. I presume, provided our justice system in that area hasn’t been corrupted completely, and the DPS agent doesn’t purger himself (assuming of course, that the border agents will do so) you should be found not guilty. Following that verdict, don’t forget to file for an expungement of the records. Otherwise, in the future, the fact that you were arrested will be used by other dishonest agents of government to show reasonable suspicion, without respect to the fact the arrest was unconstitutional.
Not trying to advertise anything, just a recommendation is all. I believe if you enjoy this website and understand the concept(s) Dale Everett is trying to express, I suggest everyone should take a moment to check out this website…
http://www.CheckpointUSA.org
For starters, check out the Philosophy of Liberty flash video on the front page there, but most importantly, take a look at the YouTube videos in the External Links section on the bottom left. They are undoubtedly the shocking truth, reality, and proof of the emerging police state. Don’t take my word for it. I insist you view the clips yourselves.
And by the way, Mr. Everett, your comics are very clever and humorous. I enjoy them and I mention your website to many other people. I also enjoy your writings. Great website.
Mere assertion of Constitutional rights cannot be used as a basis for suspicion – refusing to be searched without a warrant and not answer questions are Constitutional rights. Therefore refusing to be searched without a warrant cannot be used as “probably cause” for detainment, arrest, or physical violence.
Heh, that reminds me of the private security guards in this article:
