I have never gotten into the habit of wearing a hat, and that was the only one that was ever enforced at my school. I spent most of my days in class lounging sideways in the desk, and no one ever wanted to talk to the teacher, so it consisted of the teacher trying (mostly in vain) to find someone who was willing to answer the question but wasn't one of the five or so that answered everything. Talking amongst ourselves was always easily manageable.
